Vice President, MOC Educational and Support Services

Mellie V. Pouwels joined American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) in 2009 as Program Director, Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Support Program.  In this role, she was responsible for developing communication resources and implementing education programs that assist the 24 Member Boards with their initiatives with the MOC program.  In 2011, Ms. Pouwels was promoted to Vice President, MOC Educational and Support Services, and she assumed an increased level of responsibility for providing ongoing leadership and direction for the continued growth and development of ABMS’ MOC educational and support services.

Ms. Pouwels has over 15 years of experience in Continuing Medical Education, as well as experience in medical student education and community-based training programs.  Prior to her tenure at ABMS, Ms. Pouwels held senior positions with the Radiological Society of North America and the Northwest Missouri Area Health Education Center.

Pouwels received her Master’s degree in Counseling from Loyola Marymount University and her Bachelor’s degree in Art History from the University of Notre Dame.
