ABMS Promotes Krista Allbee to Associate Vice President, International and Domestic Certification Support Services
CHICAGO – August 29, 2011 – The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the organization overseeing the certification of physician specialists in the United States, has promoted Krista Allbee to the position of Associate Vice President, International and Domestic Certification Support Services.
In this role, Ms. Allbee will provide leadership and guidance to ABMS and its Member Boards in supporting the growth and enhancement of international and domestic certification services.
“The increase in the scope of ABMS international and domestic examination and certification activities has defined the need for additional leadership and expertise in this area,” said Richard E. Hawkins, MD, ABMS Senior Vice President, Professional and Scientific Affairs. “Based on Krista’s outstanding contributions to the development of examination and certification processes for the international initiative, as well as her work to develop procedures for multiple Member Boards to share test questions, she was the ideal candidate for the Associate Vice President position.”
Ms. Allbee most recently served ABMS as Program Director, Certification Support Services. Her previous experience includes 10 years with the National Board of Medical Examiners, where she was Director of Test Development for Client Programs; Managing Editor of the United States Medical Licensing Exam Step 2 and Editorial Specialist for the Standardized Patient Program.
Ms. Allbee has co-authored articles that have appeared in medical journals including Academic Medicine and the American Journal of Gynecology and Obstetrics. She received her Bachelor of Arts degrees in Sociology and Political Science from the University of Vermont.
