New Edition of ABMS' Guide to Physician Specialties Now Available
Booklet Provides Specialty and Subspecialty Descriptions and Information About Board Certification
EVANSTON, Ill. - March 18, 2008 -American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) has just released a new edition of its popular Guide to Physician Specialties. Last published in 2006, the booklet has been a widely popular reference for learning about the many specialty and subspecialty areas of medicine where certification is offered by an ABMS Member Board.
The new 80-page edition begins with background information about the ABMS organization, board certification, ABMS Maintenance of Certification® and how to verify certification. This is followed by descriptions of each of the specialties and subspecialties organized by the 24 Member Board that issues the certification. Also included are contact information for each ABMS Member Board, associate member and a chart which summarizes the specialties and subspecialties where certification is offered.
First published in 1982 as part of its public mission to educate the public about specialty medicine and board certification, the new brochure can be purchased through the ABMS Web site at a cost of $5.
