Kathleen Ruff oversees the development of new initiatives and programs that are in alignment with the strategic goals of ABMS, and her responsibilities include planning, developing and managing the range of strategic activities for the President and Chief Executive Officer. In addition, she oversees operations and activities related to the ABMS Board of Directors and Member Board relations.

Prior to joining ABMS, Ms. Ruff was Vice President for External Affairs and Special Assistant to the President for the Northeast Ohio Medical University. In addition, she was President of the NEOMED Foundation. In this role, she worked with the President on building relationships with external constituents, developed and oversaw strategic initiatives and partnerships, and facilitated the University serving as a host for a new STEM+M high school. Ms. Ruff also worked with advancement staff to develop and implement the University’s fundraising plan, and worked with public relations and marketing to rename and rebrand the University. She was also responsible for the University’s strategic planning process and all senior level recruiting.

Earlier in her tenure at NEOMED, Ms. Ruff served as Chief of Staff and Vice President for Strategic Alliances and worked to establish the first degree program, the doctor of pharmacy, since the institution’s inception, as well as help establish the College of Pharmacy. She also was responsible for several major reorganizations that included developing new business processes within the institution that realigned existing and created new resources for strategic initiatives and programs.

Ms. Ruff also served as Director of Academic Budgets at Drexel University. In this role, she was primarily responsible for budget planning and allocation, human resource management, faculty affairs operations and information systems implementation for the colleges, schools and all other units that reported to the Provost.

Ms. Ruff received her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and her Master of Business Administration with a concentration in International Business from Drexel University. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Higher Education at Ohio University.
