The ABMS Research and Education Foundation’s Visiting Scholars Program is a one-year, part-time program designed to support early career physicians and scientists in their pursuit of research aimed at improving patient care and furthering medical education. This program also is designed to expose the scholars to the fields of professional assessment and education, health and public policy, and quality improvement, as well as provide leadership development.
The program is open to junior faculty including assistant professors and instructors, fellows, residents, medical students, public health students, and PhD students in health services research and other relevant disciplines. Three to five scholars will be selected each year. In its inaugural year in 2014, five scholars were chosen from among 46 applicants.
