Miami Children's Health System to Participate in ABMS Multi-Specialty Portfolio Program

ABMS has announced that Miami Children’s Health System, including its flagship Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, has joined the ABMS Multi-Specialty Portfolio Program™. MCHS physicians who are Board Certified by one of 21 of 24 ABMS Member Boards participating in the Portfolio Program and are engaged in eligible activities can now obtain Maintenance of Certification credit.

ABMS has announced that the American Hospital Association has joined the ABMS Multi-Specialty Portfolio Program™. Hospitals and health systems participating in the AHA’s Health Research & Educational Trust Hospital Improvement Innovation Network can now facilitate Maintenance of Certification Improvement in Medical Practice credit for physicians who are Board Certified by one of the 21 of 24 ABMS Member Boards participating in the Portfolio Program.

Competence is difficult to define and even harder to measure. That is what Benjamin Wooster, MD, an orthopaedic surgery resident at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, learned when he undertook a study to determine if anatomic knowledge correlates with surgical competence as part of his ABMS Visiting Scholar research project.
