VCU School of Medicine Physicians Can Earn Maintenance of Certification Credit for Quality Improvement Through ABMS Portfolio Program

Furthering VCU Health’s mission toward becoming America’s safest health system, Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine recently joined the ABMS Multi-Specialty Portfolio Program™. Physicians affiliated with VCU School of Medicine and VCU Health, and who are board certified by one of the 21 of 24 ABMS member boards participating in the portfolio program, may now receive maintenance of certification credit for their engagement in quality improvement work at the institution.

On Tuesday, October 25, 2016, the White House hosted its second symposium briefing session on addiction, titled “Medicine Responds to Addiction II.” The symposium brought together federal partners and national leaders from medical schools, residency, and fellowship programs to advance addiction medicine education and training.

ABMS has announced that the University of Kansas (KU) School of Medicine is now participating in the Portfolio Program. Physicians affiliated with the KU School of Medicine and The University of Kansas Hospital and who are Board Certified by one of the 21 of 24 ABMS Member Boards participating in the Portfolio Program may now receive MOC credit for their engagement in QI work at the institution.
