Call for Comment: Four Boards Seek Neurocritical Care Subspecialty Certificate
COCERT welcomes comments from all interested parties on the following requests by ABMS Member Boards.
The following Member Boards are requesting a new subspecialty certificate in Neurocritical Care:
- American Board of Anesthesiology
- American Board of Emergency Medicine
- American Board of Neurological Surgery
- American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
The Boards seeking to offer this subspecialty certificate have submitted a common application. The application includes an addendum for each Board with information as it relates to its particular specialty. View the application [PDF].
The comment period will close on April 9, 2018. Comment via the ABMS Public Input Form.
To comment, please select the Board(s) for which you would like to submit a comment (You may select more than one Board). You will be provided a separate text box for each Board that you select.

- A confirmation email will be sent once your comment(s) is submitted successfully.
- You may wish to print the confirmation page for your records.
Note: A comment period is currently open for a request by the American Board of Neurological Surgery for a focused practice designation in Neurological Critical Care. To be eligible for the focused practice designation, physicians would need to complete specified requirements including clinical experience.
Additional reference documents are available for your review, including Certification as outlined in Article VII of the Amended and Restated Corporate Bylaws of ABMS and the COCERT Public Input Policy approved by the ABMS Board of Directors in September 2010.
Your comments will be shared with COCERT for use in discussion and deliberation of this request. Your comments will also be shared with the requesting Member Board to allow them to respond. Additionally, your comments may also be shared with other ABMS organizational units such as committees and work groups if deemed necessary.
