Dr. David Price leads the ABMS Research and Education Foundation in supporting the scientific, scholarly, education, and leadership development purposes of the American Board of Medical Specialties. He also is the Executive Director of the ABMS Multi-Specialty Portfolio Program, which offers a pathway for health care organizations to support physician involvement in quality improvement (QI) initiatives and an opportunity for physicians to receive credit in the ABMS Program for Maintenance of Certification (ABMS MOC®).
For nearly 30 years, Dr. Price was with the Colorado Permanente Medical Group (CPMG) where he served in many roles, most recently as CPMG’s Director of Medical Education and Director of Medical Education for The Permanente Federation in Oakland, California. Other roles physician investigator with the Kaiser Permanente Colorado Institute of Health Research, Co-director of the Center for Health Education, Dissemination and Implementation Research, and chair of the Department of Family Medicine. A Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Dr. Price is Chair of the Association of American Medical Colleges section on Continuing Education and Improvement.
Dr. Price served on the Board of Directors of the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM), where he chaired the Research and Development, and Examination (MOC) committees, and is a previous ABFM Board Chair. He also has been active in the Colorado and American Academies of Family Physicians, and is a past board member of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education and the American Board of Family Medicine Foundation,
Dr. Price is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is meeting the Board’s requirements for ABMS MOC.
