American Board of Medical Specialties Appoints Kristin Schleiter, JD, LLM, Vice President, Policy, Government Relations and Strategic Engagement

CHICAGO – November 14, 2018 – The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the leading organization that oversees the standards for physician Board Certification in the United States, has named Kristin Schleiter its Vice President, Policy, Government Relations and Strategic Engagement.

In this role, Ms. Schleiter will provide strategic and operational oversight for ABMS policy development and advocacy initiatives and will lead strategic engagement with governmental, professional and health care organizations, as well as other public stakeholders of specialty certification to strengthen the value of ABMS specialty Board Certification.

Ms. Schleiter brings to ABMS more than 10 years of experience in public policy and government affairs. Most recently, she was a senior legislative attorney at the American Medical Association where she focused on policy development, legislative strategy and stakeholder engagement. Ms. Schleiter has also held positions at the American Academy of Pediatrics and a law firm in Chicago.

Ms. Schleiter holds a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law as well as a Masters of Health Law. She graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Philosophy.
