ABMS Multi-Specialty Portfolio Program Launches Redesigned Website

New Website Part of a Brand Refresh for this Expanding Program

The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) Multi-Specialty Portfolio Program (Portfolio Program) has launched a new, redesigned website that is both easier to navigate and offers improved content for site users. The website launch is part of a larger “brand refresh” for the rapidly expanding Portfolio Program, which enables physicians from sponsor hospitals, health systems and health care organizations, Board Certified by one of 21 of the 24 participating ABMS Member Boards participating, to receive Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Improvement in Medical Practice (Part IV) credit for their engagement in quality improvement (QI) work.

“The Portfolio Program has been extremely well received and continues to grow as more organizations embrace the program’s inherent benefits for their Board Certified physicians and their institutions as a whole,” explained David W. Price, MD, FAAFP, FACEHP, Executive Director of the Portfolio Program. “Our new website and refreshed branding were developed to better meet the needs of our sponsor organizations who expressed a desire for a more interactive web experience as well as the opportunity to more formally align their programs with the Portfolio Program brand.”

The new website, which officially launched on July 26, 2016, offers a design that is easier to navigate and find applicable content including:

  • Detailed Portfolio Program background and updated resources
  • Portfolio Program Sponsor information and application materials
  • Desired qualifications and applications for Portfolio Program reviewers

The site now offers a more responsive format, which makes viewing and navigating the site on mobile devices faster and simpler. An enhanced Sponsor page features contact information for each participating organization to allow for improved networking. The new site also includes a newsfeed to keep visitors informed about Portfolio Program and ABMS news updates.

“The Portfolio Program’s appeal lies in the ability of health care organizations to support and engage physicians in system-wide practice improvement activities that are both directly related to a physician’s specialty area of practice as well as the goals and objectives of their system – all of which serve to help improve the quality of care for their patients and communities,” stated Dr. Price. “Our goal in redesigning the website and refreshing our branding is to support these organizations by making the necessary tools and resources available more readily accessible.”

To date, the Portfolio Program has helped engage nearly 9,000 physicians in practice improvement initiatives at hospitals and health systems across the country, many showing improvement in care outcomes, and has recognized their participation with MOC-eligible credit. Since its inception, approximately 1,700 improvement efforts have been completed by Portfolio Program participants. For more information about the Portfolio Program, visit the program website.
