ABMS has announced that the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists has joined ABMS’ Multi-Specialty Portfolio Program™. Under the Portfolio Program, ACOG physicians who are Board Certified by one of the 21 of 24 ABMS Member Boards participating in the Portfolio Program can now earn Maintenance of Certification Improvement in Medical Practice credit for their involvement in selected ACOG quality improvement activities.
ABMS officially recognized subspecialty certification for Pediatric Hospital Medicine at its October 2016 Board Meeting in Chicago, IL. The American Board of Pediatrics, an ABMS Member Board, sponsored the subspecialty application and will establish training and assessment criteria, as well as award the certification.
ABMS announces at its Board of Directors meeting that President and Chief Executive Officer Lois Margaret Nora, MD, JD, MBA will complete her term as the organization’s leader at the end of 2017.
Continuing Medical Education organizations can now explore participation in the ABMS Multi-Specialty Portfolio Program™ as part of a new, one-year pilot. The pilot allows these organizations to offer their physicians one-year access to Portfolio Program benefits without committing to becoming full participating sponsors.
The ABMS Multi-Specialty Portfolio Program and the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants have announced the establishment of an inter-professional collaborative arrangement whereby NCCPA-certified Physician Assistants can obtain performance improvement continuing medical education credit for participating with physicians in patient safety and PI activities aimed at improving the quality of care delivered to patients at their institutions.
ABMS announced today the addition of Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Open School online courses to the ABMS MOC Directory, powered by MedEdPORTAL’S CE Directory (MOC Directory). Diplomates of several of the ABMS Member Boards may now meet their Board’s Lifelong Learning (MOC Part II CME), Self-Assessment (MOC Part II SA), and Patient Safety requirements by participating in the IHI Open School courses.
ABMS officially recognized Addiction Medicine as a subspecialty at its October 2015 Board Meeting in Dallas, Texas. The American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM), a Member Board of ABMS, sponsored the application for the subspecialty to allow physicians certified by any of the 24 ABMS Member Boards to apply for the new certificate.
The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), composed of 24 Member Boards that oversee physician certification in the United States, announced the election of Valerie M. Parisi, MD, MPH, MBA, as the 35th Chair of its Board of Directors (BOD) along with a new Chair Elect, four new At-Large Members, and three current Board Members to serve on the Executive Committee at its BOD meeting on April 24 held in Washington, D.C.
